Match preview: Injury struck City ready for Wednesday?

mcfc-sheffwedManchester City will start defending the Capital One Cup trophy against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday Sep 24th with a strongly weakened side after most of the attacking players are ruled out due to injury.

Already at Chelsea Fernando and Jovetic (hamstring) were non-starters, while Aguero (knee), Silva (ancle) and Nasri (groin) have been added to the list after the weekend. Zabaleta are also missing from the team after sustaining a red card against Chelsea. In addition it is likely that Caballero will get his chance between the posts, while Pellegrini would be wise to let Mangala and Kompany continue their partnership in the City defence.

Potential City  line-up:

GK: Caballero

DF: Boyata, Kompany, Mangala, Clichy

MF: Navas, Milner, Yaya, Lampard, Sinclair

ST: Dzeko
