A little banter for you this morning, with a retort to Phil Lines’ article in MCIVTA 1911. Will be interesting to see where it leads as an early indicator of close season progress.
Speaking of Phil, we’ve included an advert of his for match day parking, not something we normally do but as Phil is a friend of MCIVTA we’ve made an exception as it’s a useful service too.
While on the subject of useful services, there are a couple of pieces on memorabilia/programme sales and giveaways that might be of interest too.
Next Game: 14 July Supersport United, PretoriaWALDORF AND STATLER
Phil Lines suggested the above pseudonym for our 2 Spanish board members for “failing to land Isco and Cavani”.
I wonder what amazing insider info about all their conversations, offers made, player opinions etc. he has knowledge of to get to form this opinion?
To suggest they failed – as opposed to saying they thought Cavani too expensive and that Isco clearly wanted to stay in Spain, preferring RM (not Mancini!) – is the kind of ‘rubbish’ we all too often see (and deride) in the press. If such stuff was down the pecking order in the press Phil that’s because it’s made up boll***s! You talk about their influence in the ‘Spanish transfer market’… mmm… doesn’t Cavani play for Napoli?
Come on Phil, your NUFC stuff was fine but it would take a lot, lot more than the Cavani and Isco episodes to suggest we have issues with our exec management.
Oh yes… are you forgetting the 2 ‘class’ players they did land? One of them from the ‘Spanish transfer market’!
Graham Schofield <graham.schofield(at)yahoo.com>FUTURE LOOKS GOOD
If Manchester City are to succeed next season we must leave the Roberto Mancini era behind us, but never to forget him; he will always be known as a City legend.
For now we all have to look forward to the new season, with the new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
It looks like everything about the new MCFC has a Spanish flavour to it, which cannot be all that bad after the success of Barça and Real Madrid in recent years. However, football is changing all the time – Bayern Munich and Dortmund have shown us how to win German style. Then, in the Confederations Cup, Brazil at home out-classed Spain to win. However, I do feel that Spain will recover and be back.
For City to go forward, a winning team, the right combination of players must be put together like a jigsaw puzzle; for them all to click and mould as a team, is a must.
Manuel Pellegrini has a big job on his hands and he wants to win. After seeing his first day at Manchester City, my first impression is that he is a gentleman with a passion for the game.
The first two signings are very good ones and now, as I write this, we all await Carlos Tévez’s replacement – big boots to fill – for Tévez, when on the pitch, gave 100% effort. Cavani is very good but the money for him is far too much.
City might already have such a player on their books recovering from an injury: John Guidetti, a player that Pellegrini is familiar with for he tried to get him on loan at Malaga not too long ago.
I know that the season is getting closer, for I have started to kick in my sleep.
Come on you Blues!
Ernie Barrow <Britcityblue(at)aol.com>MATCHDAY PARKING
Hi folks,
I hope all is well and looking forward to cheering on Manuel “The Engineer” Pellegrini and the troops.
If you want hassle free, safe, secluded and secure parking for match days at the Etihad, please drop me a line (10 minutes walk from Mary D’s).
Based on (a likely minimum) 24 games (19 League, 3 Champions and 2 home cup ties) it works out at £6 per game so whilst the majority of the surrounding areas are now charging between £6 and £10 per match, this is still very good value and if (when) we progress to the knock-out rounds of the Champions League it is even better value.
That’s £144 for the season (including VAT).
All the best for 13/14; drop me a line if you want a Match Day ParkingSeason Ticket.

I may be in Johannesburg for work next week and am hoping to get to the Supersport game next Sunday. Would be good to meet up with any SA based Blues while I am down there.

Martyn Ruscoe <Martyn.Ruscoe(at)trident-ha.org.uk>AND FINALLY… ISCO
What a shame with the Isco situation. A good friend of mine had this chant all ready to go and now it has been scuppered by Real:
“Let’s all have a disco, Silva, Navas, Isco, Ya Ya Ya Ya, Ya Ya Ya Ya”
Would have sounded great.
