Newsletter #1473
|
My turn to take over the editorial reigns this week.
We are in the middle of an international break and today I have a very short newsletter to bring you. Talking of international breaks, Robinho’s first goal against Venezuela last night really was something special, wasn’t it?
Please keep your articles coming to the usual address of <editor(at)mcivta.city-fan.org>, and hopefully I’ll have a larger newsletter to send to you on Thursday.
Next Game: Newcastle United, away, 8pm Monday 20 October 2008OPINION: WILL SANTA COME IN JANUARY?
Although the January transfer window does not open until January 1st 2009, the media and press are full of which players are going to be signed by MCFC.
A lot of attention has gone to Santa Cruz who was transferred to Blackburn by Mark Hughes, and who knows the player well, so this might be the reason for speculation by the media; there might be and there might not be any truth in the story – Blackburn have already said no once.
Personally I would first of all like to see our defence beefed up, too many sloppy goals conceded.
Of course I would love to see Kaka playing for City, who wouldn’t? But will AC Milan ever let such a player leave? They have ambitions of their own, but money does help the City cause.
As regards to Steve Kay’s fun list of players to leave, I have yet to add mine, but of course like everyone else we all have some players in mind, but I doubt very much that they will all leave at once.
Despite the credit crunch that is global, it is nice for a change to see our club in no fear of money matters anymore, the owners giving Sparky 100 million pounds to do his shopping come January.
Sparky inherited a team, and is yet to make it a “Sparky Team”; after the transfer window it will become more a “City Sparky Team”, but we have to be patient, it takes time to build a great team.
MCFC is buzzing and it’s catching, we had a different kind of buzz in the 60/70’s with Summerbee buzzing down the wing, now the club and fans are buzzing about the club and its future.
Come on you buzzing Blues! In Sparky we trust.
Ernie Barrow <britcityblue(at)aol.com>NEW ZEALAND SUPPORTERS’ CLUB
Well I know it’s been a long time since we did anything, but the Manchester City Centenary Supporters’ Club in New Zealand is back up and running.
After 18 months of neglect I am happy to say we are back into full swing.
Early this year I visited Manchester and was lucky enough to meet up with Neil Young who has agreed to become our life patron.
If you would like to join us please contact me on email below. We have members in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Little Jon in Hamilton.
Mark Healey <mcfcnz(at)slingshot.co.nz>OPINION: ENGLAND GOALKEEPER
Watching MOTD 2 (5 October), why on Earth is Robert Green in the England squad but not Hart? He’s like a dead lump to the England goalkeeping team. Let the fresh blood shine.
