The very first thing to get out of the way is my apology for the lateness of this edition of MCIVTA… sorry, but I cannot do it without giving an unashamed plug!

The reason for the delay is that I’ve just returned from a meeting of the Milton Keynes OSC, where Susan Bookbinder of Radio 5 Live was our special guest, having agreed to become our 1st Branch President.

Anyway, this edition contains no match reports, as they were all dealt with by Heidi in MCIVTA 739, but there is plenty of opinion on the subject of City’s games on Live TV.

League Cup Draw

The date for City’s Worthington Cup second round clash at Notts County has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 11. The match is an all ticket affair.

Horlock Back

Kevin Horlock has won a recall to the Northern Ireland squad for the forthcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Denmark and Iceland. His recall is more than likely a direct response by Sammy McIlroy to his first team return at City and Jeff Whitley’s long-term injury. Horlock is expected to on the bench against Denmark on Saturday.

Keegan Warns Against Complacency

KK has refused to get carried away by City’s rise to top spot in the division. The boss said “It doesn’t matter that we’re top now. I’ve been top of the table before with teams. At Newcastle we started our promotion season with 11 straight wins and still didn’t get up until five games from the end of the season. Then, in the Premiership, we had a 12-point lead and everyone knows we didn’t win the title – and that lead was after Christmas. We mustn’t get carried away, as this is a tough league, mentally and physically. We are where we want to be, but we still want to be there at the start of May, going into the Premiership again and making a better go of it this time than last time.”
