Lindsay Gilmour
Why Blue?
When I was six there was a boy I fancied in class. We’ve all been there, one way or another.
One day he said to me, ‘what football team do you support?’
But I didn’t know any. So I said, ‘what football team do *you* support?’ And he said, ‘Manchester City,’ so, I said, ‘So do I.’
My mistake was in having a family, mum and dad, who both love football, and were only too glad to have a reason to go to matches (and besides, City’s reputation was better than the Rags’, family-wise). So I saw Colin Bell play his first match back from his knee injury, and I remember Big Joe, Asa H, and all that.
Twenty six years later, several heart attacks later, many leaping-about-cheering-injuries later, one very recent season in that godforsaken hole they call the Second Division later, I am craving the football season starting again.
Because I love ’em.
B**ger it.
See you in the Premier,
