1956 MCFC won the FA-cup after beating Birmingham City 3-1 through goals by Hayes, Johnstone and Dyson. The match is probably best known for MCFC goalkeeper Bert Trautmann finishing the game with a broken neck sustained in a duel with Peter Murphy.
