Played alongside Jurgen Klinsmann and Maurizio Gaudino in VFB Stuttgart in the late 80ies. Was regarded as one of Germanies finest goalkeepers, earning 19 caps for their nationals team. Eike found himself out of a first team place after serving Stuttgart for almost 10 years, and with 534 bundesliga-matches behind him he moved to Manchester to cover for the injured Tony Coton. Instead of practicing his favourite hobbies, golf and tennis, he experienced an indian summer in England. He's the fans favourite and follows the footsteps of Bert Trautmann when it comes to goalkeeping. With a string of clean sheets he helped City out of their darkest moments at the start of the season. hopefully he'll continue to serve City well in the time to come.

Eike must have wondered why he made the move to play for City. One season he's the clubs number one, playing almost every match, and being rated as one of the better players in the team. Next season he's seen 4 managers come and go, and after an injury-setback he's no longer in the team. No wonder he chose to go back to Germany, to recap his career with 1st division club Waldhof Mannheim, or maybe go into management. He should have enough experince by now - that's for sure.
