Newsletter #1829

After the frenzy of the last few ‘Champions’ editions of MCIVTA, a much quieter edition today. Just one article in fact!

Thanks to Dave Ball for the link in his article; it sure looked like one helluva night in The Bank!

Some troubling news, for a couple of Blue midfielders, in the last 48 hours. First off Gareth Barry had to withdraw from the Euros due to injury. Sad for him as he deserves a good crack at the tournament after what, in my opinion, was probably his best professional season. From a selfish point of view however, a rest will do him no harm ahead of next season.

More troubling, is the arrest of Michael Johnson on drink drive charges after a crash last night in Urmston. Seems those life-style concerns are not going away for the injury-plagued youngster (actually he is now 24!).

Off the pitch has seen the arrival of Tom Glick, former CEO at Derby, to take up a new rôle at the club as Chief Commercial & Operating Officer. In effect, he replaces Garry Cook and will be a key part of the Club’s future. So welcome and good luck Tom!

Next Game: Chelsea, Community Shield, Villa Park, 12 August 2012, 3.00pm

ARTICLE: FINAL DAY

I’m sure everybody has their own memories of that last day.

I met up with my son in-law, his brother, dad and friend after the game in town and we ended up in The Bank.

I’m so pleased that someone had a video camera and put it on YouTube – what a night.

Even if Kolo leaves, this will echo round the ground next season.
