Roy played full-back for City from 1949 to 1958 (winning a cup-final
medal in 1956) when he was transferred to Crystal Palace (Brighton &
H.A. claims "the Complete History" book [SAH]). He played for a number
of other clubs before retiring from playing and returning to his original
home area - South Manchester, where he now lives. Roy is very much a 'blue'
still and is at most home matches. He is a leading organiser of the 'Manchester
City F.C. Ex-Players Association' which, he tells me, numbers around a
hundred or so members. (The Association 'lost' it's oldest member - Sir
Matt Busby - who used to attend the gatherings). As I say, Roy is a fervent
'blue' who, in his spare time enjoys socialising and playing snooker.
