Lee was born in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and played for both his home town and home county's boys teams. Along with fellow Blue Chris Greenacre, he played for Altofts FC at weekends and won a league championship and several cup competitions. Being a Wakefield lad, he naturally supported Leeds United as a youngster but had no doubts about joining City. He has progressed rapidly through the youth and reserve team ranks and has been an unused substitute for the first team this season. He rates his biggest strength as being accurate passing and his biggest weakness his left foot.
