1903 Fred Tilson was born in Barnsley. The lethal striker scored 132 goals in 276 games and won both a league championship, the FA-cup as well as the Charity Shield while at City. Injury hampered his career, and he missed the 1933 final which City lost to Everton. The following year he was fit for the final against Portsmouth. Before the game City captain Sam Cowan introduced him to the King the following way: "This is Tilson, your Majesty. He is playing today with two broken legs". Tilson scored two late goals and secured a famous win for the Blues. He later joined City as a coach, scout and even acted as caretaker manager for spells in the 1960s.

1987 On this day in 1987 was Joe Hart born in Shrewsbury, England. His professional footballing career started with Shrewsbury and he was voted League Two's best goalkeeper for 2005-06, before he moved to MCFC in May 2006 in a deal worth £1,5m. After spending some time on loan to Tranmere, Blackpool and Birmingham he returned as first choice before the 2010/11 season. He soon established himself both as City's and England's no 1, and a string of clean sheets in the 2011/12 season helped secure the first league title in 44 years for the blues. Hart reached 200 games for City well before his 27th birthday, and he is already the most winning City-keeper of all times with a League Championship, FA-cup, League-cup and a Community shield medal to his honour.
